For nearly a year now, you and your companions have been stalking your prey from town to town across the continent, finding signs of his evil everywhere. You have had to face a multitude of nightmarish things, left in his wake: wolves, thieves, weird swarms of bats, plague and worse still ! But Dracula himself has always eluded you...until now.

Your horsesī hooves clatter noisily as you chase the rickety gypsy driven cart, bearing the box in which rests the most foul un-Godly leech ! You take aim and fire your revolver. A loud crack resounds and the ugly Szgany falls away from the reigns. You are mere yards away when the wagon crashes off the road into a deep ditch, the box falling slowly onto the moist earth. Quickly you dismount and race forward, stake and crucifix in hand. A wolf howls in the distance but you ignore it as you prepare to face the Prince of Darkness. In seconds the box-lid is open revealing...NOTHING !

Incredibly, night falls in mere seconds and you shudder when you hear a menacing laugh sound close behind you...

The Fury of Dracula is a boardgame in the gothic horror tradition for 2-4 players. Set in 1898, eight years after the events depicted in Bram Stokerīs classic novel. The game is a battle of wills, the rules allowing players to concentrate on the many strategies available to them. It features a unique hidden movement system and exciting blow by blow combat rules which enable players to get involved in the most dramatic struggles of life and death...and beyond !

Kulkmannīs Opinion: Fury of Dracula is one of the best games which Games Workshop ever produced. Slightly strange, the game is played with three players (the Vampire-Hunters) teaming up against one player who is in charge of the Count of Darkness. The movement of Dracula is hidden from the players, and only in rare instances is Dracula forced to appear on the map. During his turn, Dracula draws a few event counters which he may leave in the town where he currently is. Itīs his aim to get 6 vampire counters from his tile of event counters, and these he must place in different cities all over Europe to win the game. The Hunters on the other hand must try to find these counters and try to kill the Vampires using a wooden stake. Unfortunately, Dracula not only places Vampires but he may also leave all kinds of surprises for the players behind: Thus the Hunters may be attacked by servants of Dracula, they may be hindered by Fog or Storm or they may be attacked by wolves or rats. Most spectacular is the combat system: During the game the Hunters secretly acquire different kinds of weapons like guns, knifes, wooden stakes, holy bullets and other things. Whereas guns are effective against servants of Dracula, these are of no use against the Count himself. Here, the ultimate weapon is a wooden stake. In combat, the players first secretly chose which wepaon they want to use (with Dracula having an array of nasty tricks like biting or becoming a bat), and then the players roll for initiative. Depending on who has the initiative, the chosen weapons are now compared on a combat table and the results are applied....

Due to itīs very good combination of tactics and luck, Fury of Dracula surely is one of Games Workshopīs all-time gems. If you see a game like this, you get sad that they stopped producing these kinds of games. So if you can lay your hands on a copy - GO FOR IT !!!
